About Jonas Salks Early Life
Jonas Salk was born in New York City on October 28, 1914. His parents were Russian Immigrants that did not get the best education. Because of the lack of education his parents had, they wanted their kids to have a great education and to succeed in school. Jonas was a great student even though he did not succeed in different activities like sports, he studied hard and always got good grades. Ever since Jonas was a child, he wanted to make a difference in life. He wanted to be remembered for something significant he did. Today he is known for creating the first polio vaccine.
Jonas entered high school when he was just twelve years old and graduated when he was fifteen. He went to Townsend Harris high school, a high school for exceptional students. Once he graduated, he wanted to become a lawyer but that no longer suited him. He found interest in Medical Science therefore he entered medical school. In 1939, Jonas graduated medical school and married to Donna Lindsay. Jonas moved and started his research on the polio vaccine.
